Riley turns 3!

It was Riley’s birthday recently… (ok not so recently, January 9th, we’re way behind). The night before, Riley and I made blueberry-banana muffins to bring to the daycare:

Riley’s been asking for a bouncy house for her birthday for months. It’s really the only thing she asked for actually – more than a cake or balloons or presents. So we looked around online and I got a suggestion for www.planetbouncy.com.

It’s actually reasonably priced, so we relented and rented the castle. Luckily Lucy agreed to have it at the daycare. The kids loved it of course. When Sage and I got to the daycare in the afternoon all the kids we going crazy bouncy around.

After a while it was time to sing and blow out the candles. I had a moment of panic as the muffins were getting passed around that the kids would realize they’re not cupcakes and refuse them, but they didn’t seem to notice (phew). They stuffed them down then started running around again. Every kid got a balloon when their parents arrived, and Riley had a blast bouncing in the bouncy house WITH her balloon. Simple pleasures.

We made her a birthday table to surprise her when she got home (in the Lawson family tradition):

I loved the blueberry muffin video—Riley is so articulate and talky. So fascinating to see how she evolves each day. And the bouncy house!! Every kid’s dream-birthday wish. What a great treat for all her friends in daycare. Thanks for this lovely chapter in Riley’s life. Love, Oma Peggy

Oh my, you sound exactly like me when I was first alone with my 2 boys. Eeek. I still sggltrue a little but I’m slowly getting the hang of it. Luckily, Bennett still takes 3 hour naps (don’t shoot me). So that is my saving grace right now. I’m steadily starting to get into a napping flow with my 3 month old, and so far… they seem to be overlapping by about an hour. Hallelujah!! Anyway, I’m here to tell you that day by day, it gets a tiny bit easier. Some days all you will wanna do is zone out and have a cryfest by yourself. But it’s those good days in between that give you the light at the end of the tunnel. And afterall, you have two amazing little boys to snuggle… so that’s kinda worth it, right? :)Hang in there mama!! xoxo
