Outfits – Riley's First Blog https://riley.newdream.net Fri, 30 Jun 2006 15:38:14 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=6.5.2 Girls can play too! https://riley.newdream.net/?p=67 https://riley.newdream.net/?p=67#comments Fri, 30 Jun 2006 06:39:15 +0000 https://riley.newdream.net/?p=67 My brother Eric has always maintained that girls can’t play soccer… or any sport really. But after getting to know Riley and seeing how active she is and how much she likes to kick… well I guess he changed his mind. So he bought her an Arsenal jersey (his favorite team) and now maintains she’ll somedayplay for their women’s team…

Pretty pretty princess dress https://riley.newdream.net/?p=47 https://riley.newdream.net/?p=47#comments Thu, 23 Mar 2006 04:01:17 +0000 https://riley.newdream.net/?p=47 Grandma Peg picked up this rediculously cute but slightly over-the-top dress in Mexico (though the tag claims it was “Made in the USA”) for Riley to wear at our wedding. We were playing dress-up (literally, for once) in preparation for this trip but all of the others were either already too small or still way too big. But this one fit perfectly! Riley looked so funny we woke Brigitte up (she’d just gone to sleep) so she could see.

There was originally a bow/flower arrangement thing pinned on the front, but it was just too much. Taping it to her head worked pretty well, though! She didn’t seem to mind.

Holy cuteness https://riley.newdream.net/?p=26 https://riley.newdream.net/?p=26#respond Fri, 27 Jan 2006 02:14:12 +0000 https://riley.newdream.net/?p=26

We love this little froggie suit from Becky because it has all snaps and little feet… sadly she has almost grown out of it already (amazing really). Here are some more recent pictures too, including a few of the new apartment, which is still (you guessed it) 2-3 weeks away! For reals this time, though.

Riley’s first party https://riley.newdream.net/?p=25 https://riley.newdream.net/?p=25#respond Thu, 26 Jan 2006 23:13:16 +0000 https://riley.newdream.net/?p=25 Riley made her debut on the bay area party scene on Saturday at Brett’s going away party (he’s moving to Holland in a couple weeks). She lasted 2 whole hours (though she slept though the first hour) and seemed to handle the attention pretty well. Truth be told her favorite part of the day was probably the car ride to Oakland and back – she seems to be happiest when she’s in constant motion.

Of course deciding what to wear for such a big event was a challenge, but we found the perfect outfit… (Thank you to Josh and Margo)

The Yellow Hat https://riley.newdream.net/?p=11 https://riley.newdream.net/?p=11#comments Wed, 18 Jan 2006 23:18:10 +0000 https://riley.newdream.net/?p=11 Nope, it doesn’t fit!

For those that missed it at the baby shower: some 28 years ago my grandmother Mimi knit (crocheted?) a yellow hat for me, complete with ribbons to tie under the chin and these strange flower (creepy?) things on the ears. Alas, at 10+ lbs, my head was too big from the start. At the shower we found that it barely fit a small doll’s head:

hat doesnt fit
Anyway, it appears that despite 27 years in a box the yellow hat’s big day has yet to arrive… and I’m not sure it will until someone ends up with a premi. Sorry Riley, but it’s better this way!

First car ride https://riley.newdream.net/?p=8 https://riley.newdream.net/?p=8#respond Wed, 11 Jan 2006 19:00:55 +0000 https://riley.newdream.net/?p=8 ride home

After two nights in the hospital, Riley took her first ride in the new baby-mobile, sporting one of her new outfits: layette (or whatever it’s called) and hand-knit hat from Vida and Dallas, fleece blanket from Becca.
Packard has a guy you can make an appointment and go to to help you put in your car seat. Apparently four out of five are installed incorrectly! Sounded a bit inflated to me, but sure enough, I’d put ours in wrong: apparently the little baby-seat hooks between the cushions only work if you put in the seat on the left or right side. If you install in the center, you need to use the seat belt, because the hooks are welded to two unconnected bars (in the 2006 Lexus RX at least!). We learned this and much much more. Despite this, and Riley being almost a week overdue, we still didn’t manage to have the seat installed before leaving the hospital. According to the orderly guy who wheeled us out, this was also par for the course.
